Lakota Music Project Shared Vision Tour

The Shared Vision Tour went to six South Dakota towns: Custer (Crazy Horse Memorial), Pine Ridge (Lakota Tech High School), Chamberlain High School  (school and public performances), Mission (Sinte Gleska University), Wagner (Community School), and Sioux Falls (LSS Multi-Cultural Center). 

This is the first tour to feature works by Music Composition Academy students. The concert program included the world premiere of Lakota Refrains by Derek Bermel and Emmanuel Black Bear, and Songbird and Goose by Jeffrey Paul in collaboration with Bryan Akipa, Dakota cedar flutist.  

The Shared Vision tour explored human experiences of celebration, humor, love and youth demonstrated through music of Lakota, Dakota, and western classical traditions.
