Christine Egan

Christine Egan has been a member of the SDSO since 1998. She has taught private violin and viola lessons since 1999 and owns and operates Egan String Studio. Many of her private students have been selected to perform in the South Dakota High School All-State Orchestra, the South Dakota Middle School All-State Orchestra, and the South Dakota Symphony Youth Orchestras.

Egan studied violin performance with Dr. Walter May, Dr. Doosook Kim, and Magdalena Modzelewska. She graduated magna cum laude from Augustana College in Sioux Falls with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Instrumental Music Education in 2003.

During her years in the South Dakota Symphony, Egan has performed with artists such as Yo-Yo Ma, Branford Marsalis, Emmanuel Ax, Joseph Alessi, Dionne Warwick, Amy Grant, and Michael W. Smith. She has appeared in televised performances with Glen Campbell, the South Dakota Symphony, and the widely popular Christmas at the Cathedral. She has also performed with the Southwest Minnesota Orchestra and the White Spruce Chamber Ensemble. Egan is regularly contracted to perform for weddings, funerals, and special events at various churches. She is an active member of her church worship team as a singer and violinist and performs in the folk band Coming Home.

Egan and her husband, Ryan, have three children. They also own and operate Queen City Balloon Bar.
