Daniel Kitchens

A native of Plano, Texas, Daniel Kitchens is an accomplished musician and educator. Since 2016, Kitchens has been Principal Horn of the South Dakota Symphony Orchestra where, in addition to his duties with the orchestra, Kitchens performs over a hundred concerts a year with the Dakota Wind Quintet. Kitchens has performed with orchestras all over the world, including the Philharmonia Orchestra, Minnesota Orchestra, Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, and as Guest Principal Horn with the Orquesta Sinfónica Nacional of the Dominican Republic and the Omaha Symphony. Kitchens particularly enjoys teaching and is a sought-after clinician for masterclasses and private lessons alike. Kitchens completed his studies in music at Texas Christian University, University of Nebraska at Omaha, and the Royal College of Music. Prior to his appointment in the SDSO, Kitchens was pursuing postgraduate studies at Southern Methodist University. His primary teachers have been Alton Adkins, Jason DeWater, Tim Jones, and Greg Hustis.
